Many teenagers today are conflicted on whether or not to get a job either in the summer or while they are in school. Some think, " Yea I want a job I can earn some money and buy those new shoes," others think, " No I don't want a job, I won't be able to have fun and hang out with my friends." If you are struggling with the decision to get a job or not, I am here to help by laying out the pros and the cons for each decision to see which is best for you and the life style that you want to live.
pros of getting a job:
1.) You will be treated with more respect, and like an adult because you are taking on so much responsibility.
2.) You gain experience by working in a job force, and by gaining this experience you could have the potential to be hired over another person for a job because you do have that extra experience.
3.) You gain credibility/ recommendations that you could use to get a job latter down in life or even use for college.
4.) You get money! Money that can be used to buy things that you really want and or need.

2.) You may loose some friends because you will be busy, but if they are not willing to stick through it they were never truly your friends to begin with.
3.) You may be missing out on opportunities like dances and dates, but opportunities are always coming an going.
4.) Your date life will suffer because you will be so busy.

What teens think
" Having a job is fun! I love working with people who treat me how i want to be treated, not by my age." ---- Alanya, age 17.
"My social life suffers dramatically, but my family needs the money, and my car needs gas."----Megan, age 16.
" I am neutral on the position. Yes I like making money and spending time with my adult friends BUT I also miss my old friends and the beach. If this is what's going to land me a good job and a great career, this is what I want to do." ---- Jacob, age 18.
"I love my job. Yes it takes time from friends, but friends come and go and I can always make new friends. I would rather better my self for the real world than have it thrust upon me only to have me drown in it. Having a job is giving me the still and the character that I need to set my self up for success instead of failure." ---- Izzabella, age 16.
